We accept applications from September through January each year via the Electronic Residency Application Service, or ERAS. Our program is listed as RUSH University Med Ctr-IL. Our categorical Internal Medicine program number is 1147140C0.
Eligible applicants must be expected graduates of accredited US and Canadian medical schools or International Medical Graduates of a medical school listed by the World Directory of Medical Schools.
Foreign citizens who attended a US medical school and Foreign Medical Graduates meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for an H-1B visa. Other foreign citizens requiring work authorization will be offered a J-1 visa. The Department of Medicine sponsors both J-1 and H-1B visas.
We are not accepting applications for PGY-2 or PGY-3 positions.
International medical graduates require all of the above, plus:

Our 2024-25 interview season will be virtual! Invitations are extended to selected applicants by email. We use Thalamus for candidates to self-schedule their interviews. We will also be using their video-conferencing software. Interviews are conducted from the beginning of November through the middle of January. Those selected to interview will receive information about the interview day via email.
Due to the volume of inquiries, we are unable to respond to all emails and phone calls. We do not accept walk-in appointments and are only able to accommodate meetings with current RUSH Medical College students.
There is a new tiered signaling system this year so we will all be learning together. Our only advice is to work closely with your medical school advisors and incorporate their advice into your decision about which programs you think you are most interested in before the interviews begin.
Based on recommendations from the AAMC, Alliance of Academic Internal Medicine and the NRMP we will not be offering formal second looks or on campus programming during interview season this year.
